I have been a building supervisor since March 2006. This happened completely by accident. My daughter had achieved 7 🏆 from her school graduation and the school principal decided to give her and my wife who attended the prize giving a lift home. Now my daughter not being shy at all ( must take after her mother ) had commented to the principal that I had applied for a position within the school and did not even receive an interview. Surprised at this the principal said to my daughter that the school had an opening to cover for a building supervisor that was of ill, but it would only be for two weeks, and so the journey was started........
Events took a turn and two weeks became two years yes a very long two weeks that was lol. Anyway I enjoyed the role so much that I thought hmmmm I wonder, so I looked into the prospect of joining the education authority on a permanent basis. Having attended the building supervisors course and gained two years experience in the role, I believed I had all that was needed to make this dream a reality.
Eventually, after several attempts at trying I finally achieved success at interview level, and so began my love for this job. Eleven years later I still have the same passion, drive and enjoyment at seeing the children achieve at this level and playing my part preparing them on their road to life.
The way the Northern Ireland curriculum is set out enables me to take an active role in the children's road to learning. Here are a few examples:

litter patrols :- To promote the keeping of our schools tidiness.
Blue bin collection :- What do we recycle, we want to promote helping our planet.
Eco warriors :- to provide meter readings for children on electricity, gas, water and solar panels to enable them to see our usage and produce graphs and charts to show awareness and promote energy saving.
